2022
2022 was another unusual start with still various Covid-19 restrictions at the start of the year and easing as the year progresses largely in part due to the UK's vaccination programme.
Please feel free to take the time to find out more about our fundraising efforts during 2022 as detailed below.
Covid-19
Similar to 2020 & 2021, the government made funding available to help support local businesses which we were eligible for. This made a huge difference to helping cover some of our core overheads at the start of the year.
Grant Applications
Grants we have been successful on so far in 2022.
The funds raised through our County Councillor, selling the RIB and some other funds from the Group allowed us to purchase a new Safety Boat for the Group earlier in the year.
We are currently also waiting to hear back from the RN Admiralty Fund, and then hoping to use these funds for new oars for our 3 Scout Coypu Pulling Boats plus a new Mega SUP capability.
Squirrel Start-up Grants
We have been successful in a number of Squirrel Start-up Grants from the following sources:
The Scout Association (National)
Hampshire Scouts (County)
Denewulf Scouts (District)
In addition we have also been supported by the IET with some start-up Lego packs for the FIRST LEGO League.
Community events
As restrictions eased over the warmer months we were able to see a return of some community based events. These included:
Portchester Gala
Where we ran our traditional tea and cake stand, along with supporting other local community organisations (such as Portchester Community Association) with various tents for the event. We also had a selection of other activities for people to join in with such as toasted marshmallows.
Online Fundraising
This continues to go well for the Group. Across easyfundraising, AmazonSmile, Portsmouth Lottery & Fareham Lottery. As of the 22/07/2022 we have raised £278.28 through these 4 opportunities for the Group.
Gift Aid
We are very thankful for all the kind parents who also complete Gift Aid Declarations as this enables us to claim an extra 25% back from the Government for those parents who are income tax payers allow us to claim an extra £42 per young person over the course of the year which helps enable us to keep our costs down as low as possible.
The simplest way to complete a Gift Aid Declaration is to do this via Online Scout Manager (OSM). For more information on Gift Aid.
